Dùthchas

Dùthchas is a Gaelic word, that essentially means the connection between people and land.

This work explores the effect of the rising surge of second homes in Scotland and the gap in the communities and ecosystem that they create.

Communities thrive through connection, resilience, and mutual support. But when land is treated as an asset rather than a shared responsibility, these relationships weaken. My project explores this tension, questioning what it means to truly belong to a place and how landscapes—like the people within them—can either flourish or fade, depending on the
care they receive.
